Vision and Mission

T

What we do

Our vision is that young people with special needs and disabilities receive quality provision and opportunities to maximise their ability and achieve their potential.

Our mission is to promote and facilitate access to the best possible educational and vocational provision for young people with additional needs, regardless of their means.

We achieve this by providing sustainable support and working with schools, colleges and organisations to:

  • develop innovative provision that improves opportunities & outcomes

  • facilitate choice and fair access to appropriate specialist provision for families

We particularly support special needs organisations and provision where:

  • Impact and improved outcomes for the individuals provided for is clearly evidenced

  • Funding results in broad impact, for example a project led by one school is shared to be of benefit to other schools

  • Support is sustainable and of long-term value

  • Support is not replacing statutory local authority obligations

  • Focus is on specialist provision (including residential), initiatives and innovative ideas, vocational opportunities, outreach services and access to placement

Ethos and Values

Trustees believe in:

  • children and families at the heart of provision

  • ambitious academic, independent living               and employment outcomes

  • specialism involving partnership and research

  • integrated therapy and wellbeing support

  • value for money

  • educational and commercial thought-processes

Bringing about change

Organisations that trustees have recently supported include:

  • a social return on investment study to qualify and quantify the outcomes of a residential special school and hence support pupil placement. There is potential for similar studies to be rolled out to further schools

  • a charity providing training to special educational needs co-ordinators in schools (SENCOS)

  • two cafes employing young adults with learning disability

  • bursaries to support tribunal costs
